Rezlynx vs adding PMS Rezlynx modules — what makes sense for UK hotels

Running a hotel on Guestline Rezlynx — whether you search it online as rez lynx, rezlinx or Rezlynx PMS — and wondering whether to swap platforms or simply extend what you already have? This comparison walks through Rezlynx cloud capabilities point by point against a focused add-on toolkit, and is deliberately blunt about the cases where staying put wins.

Note: this comparison is written by an independent team. We build modules for the hotel-PMS market, which is a potential conflict of interest — the facts below remain checkable against public documentation. We are neither a Guestline reseller nor a Guestline partner.

Module-by-module view — PMS Rezlynx products against native Rezlynx coverage

PMS Rezlynx module Native Rezlynx coverage Typical generic PMS
Direct-booking widget own web booking engine included third-party widget needed
Airbnb ↔ PMS two-way sync ✓ via supported connections ✓ common
Rate-parity watchdog not typically native rarely bundled
Yield & RevPAR advisor basic rate management native usually a paid add-on
Google Hotel Ads bidder feed support, bid automation rare specialist tool
Abandoned-booking rescue emails not typically native email platform + coding
Real-time occupancy analytics ✓ strong operational reporting ✓ varies
MICE & group quote builder manual process or spreadsheets event software separate
eSign arrival & registration pack ✓ online registration forms ✓ varies
Legacy system import ✓ one-off migration service ✓ one-off service

Coverage summaries reflect publicly documented Rezlynx capability, not marketing claims. Where a green tick appears, the native feature is often perfectly adequate on its own.

Guestline Rezlynx — the cloud PMS behind many UK independents

Rezlynx is the property management system built by Guestline, a Birmingham-rooted hospitality technology firm whose platforms serve thousands of properties across the British Isles. The Rezlynx PMS handles reservations, room racks, billing, night audit and guest records in one cloud interface; hotels on Rezlynx log into a browser dashboard each morning rather than a server-mounted desktop client. Searches for the product appear under several spellings — rez lynx, rezlinx, Rezlynx cloud — but they all lead to the same system, and the same Rezlynx dashboard used for arrivals, housekeeping and revenue screens.

The platform is popular because it bundles sensibly: a subscription commonly spans core PMS, the Rezlynx web booking engine for your own website, and commissionable OTA connections. For a thirty-to-sixty-room independent, that bundle answers distribution, front-desk operation and legal record-keeping without any further procurement. This is precisely why our first advice is usually unglamorous: if your operation runs cleanly on Rezlynx today, you may not need us at all.

Where staying on Rezlynx alone genuinely wins

There is an honest category of hotel where adding anything would be waste. If your rate decisions are made weekly by one general manager looking at three competitor websites, a dedicated yield module is overkill. If Airbnb represents a rounding error in your channel mix, two-way Airbnb synchronisation buys nothing. If your site takes fewer than five direct bookings a month because the town is seasonal and walk-ins dominate, no abandoned-booking email sequence will move the needle much. Guestline's own suite covers front-desk throughput, OTA connectivity and statutory compliance well; a further layer only pays where a specific leak has been measured.

We tell prospects this on the first call rather than after an invoice. It costs us short-term revenue and earns long-term references — a trade we accept deliberately.

Rezlynx web booking engine vs the direct-booking widget

The Rezlynx web booking engine is competent: live availability, corporate codes, packages, multi-night calendars. Its strengths sit inside the reservation workflow it shares with the PMS. Where operators feel friction is presentation on their own marketing site — matching brand typography, embedding part-flow widgets between content blocks, WCAG-focused journeys, promo landing pages built around seasonal campaigns. Because the widget reads inventory through the published interface, our direct-booking widget sits entirely in the website layer: twelve starter templates, embed script or iframe, currency conversion and promo logic handled client-side, confirmations written back so reception sees everything in the Rezlynx diary. Neither replaces the other; they solve different layers of the same funnel.

Rate tooling: native options versus a dedicated RevPAR advisor

Rezlynx supports season rates, derived rates and restrictions natively — the mechanics a smaller property needs. What neither Rezlynx nor most mid-market cloud PMS attempts autonomously is daily recommendation: reading booking pace curves, scanning geolocated competitor bars, weighing the UK events calendar, and proposing per-room-type adjustments with rationale attached. Our yield and RevPAR advisor does exactly that and pushes accepted changes back into your rate tables overnight. Revenue managers at larger hotels on Rezlynx tend to pair it with the existing rate configuration rather than replace it — validation stays human, audit stays yours.

Analytics: does another dashboard earn its place?

The Rezlynx dashboard is operationally excellent — arrivals, departures, balances, housekeeping states. Longer-horizon revenue questions (ninety-day forecast cones, pickup anomaly alerts, source-market mix trends across seasons) benefit from a warehouse-style view kept separately from transactional screens. Our real-time occupancy analytics module reads nightly aggregates through read-only access, refreshes every fifteen minutes and exports CSV, PDF or Excel for owner meetings. It complements the operational screens rather than duplicating them; nothing touches the night audit.

Cost bands: incremental licences versus full-suite switches

Pricing honesty cuts both ways, so here are both sides. A credible full-suite migration away from Rezlynx — enterprise PMS plus licensing, data migration, retraining and integration rebuilds — routinely lands at three to five times what two targeted add-on modules cost over a year. Against that, two well-chosen modules from our shop (say the rate-parity watchdog and the yield advisor) sum to a low monthly figure with zero retraining, because staff keep working in the Rezlynx screens they know. The moment your requirement list grows past eight genuine gaps, however, a single coherent platform can beat a pile of subscriptions on both clarity and support accountability. We publish our own numbers openly on the price list: monthly licences from £26, one-off services quoted fixed.

How connecting works — no shared passwords, ever

Activation happens after a normal Rezlynx login by your own staff: within the platform, open Settings → Integrations/API keys, generate a scoped credential, and paste it into your PMS Rezlynx activation email — support@pmsrezlynx.com if anything bounces. We take it from there: scope verification, sandbox reservation cycle, go-live sign-off. We never ask for your Guestline account password, never store it, never see it. Credentials can be revoked from the same integrations screen the day you cancel — which keeps the exit clean and reversible.

Hotels on Rezlynx: the add-on stacks we see most

Three patterns dominate among the roughly hundred UK properties we currently serve that run Guestline systems. Country-inn groups take the booking widget plus rescue-email pair to lift direct share. Coastal leisure hotels lean on rate-parity monitoring ahead of school-holiday demand spikes. City conference properties adopt the MICE quote builder to compress proposal turnaround during corporate tender season. None of them replaced Rezlynx; all of them closed specific gaps without touching the operational core their teams were trained on.

Our recommendation, stated plainly

Stay on Rezlynx alone if your direct channel performs, rate reviews happen calmly and regularly, and no measurable leak keeps recurring. The platform is mature, British-supported and properly integrated with the OTA landscape.

Add PMS Rezlynx modules if you can name a concrete gap — parity drift, weak direct conversion, quotation delays, forecast blind spots — and want it closed for a fraction of suite-switch economics, with monthly cancellation keeping the downside near zero.

Rezlynx questions we get asked most

Can I use PMS Rezlynx if my hotel runs purely on Rezlynx?

Yes. Nine out of ten PMS Rezlynx modules connect to Rezlynx today without custom work; the remaining two complete certification next quarter and are flagged on request before you order. Nothing else about your setup changes — same PMS, same screens, same support line.

Where do I find the API section?

After your Rezlynx login, open Settings → Integrations/API keys and generate a scoped credential there. Paste it into your PMS Rezlynx activation email; we verify scope and begin configuration the same business day in most cases.

Does the analytics dashboard duplicate Rezlynx reporting?

No. Native reporting concentrates on operational detail for today and yesterday. The analytics module adds forward-looking views — pace projections, ninety-day scenarios, channel-mix drift, dip alerts — drawn from read-only copies refreshed every fifteen minutes.

We imported history into Rezlynx last year — why migrate again?

You would not. Historic imports usually flow into Rezlynx once, at onboarding. Our legacy import exists for the opposite direction: moving profiles, folios and rate configuration out of older systems or between platforms while licences follow whichever system is live. Existing imports carry over unchanged.

How honest are the pricing bands above?

Fully — they are ranges, clearly labelled, drawn from documented list prices and typical discounting. Suite-switch totals vary enormously with negotiation, which is why we express the comparison as multiples (three to five times two modules' annual cost) rather than pretending one universal figure fits every property.

Does adding modules affect our Guestline support relationship?

No. Your Guestline agreement remains untouched, and we coordinate release timing with provider maintenance windows wherever write operations intersect shared surfaces such as rate tables or availability feeds.

This Rezlynx comparison is based on publicly documented Rezlynx capability as of 22 September 2026. Product scope and price bands evolve; verify current details before procurement decisions.
